Cross-Sector Cyber Work Group Overview
Overview:
The Cross-Sector Cyber Work Group was established to address critical gaps in the current landscape of cybersecurity information sharing. As cyber threats have evolved, many organizations struggle to share incident data due to concerns over confidentiality and potential reputational damage.
These challenges have made it difficult for industries to collectively defend against cyberattacks.
The workgroup was formed by industry to provide a secure, FOIA-protected environment where private sector organizations can share anonymized cyber threat intelligence between themselves, learn from one another, and act on shared experiences.
By collaborating across sectors, the group can build resilience and provide real-time, actionable intelligence that helps to mitigate potential cascading impacts of cyber incidents. Additionally, the group focuses on building trust among its participants to foster a sustainable, cooperative framework for long-term cybersecurity defense.
Vision:
Create a trusted, cross-sector community where companies collaborate to proactively defend critical infrastructure against cyber threats through secure information sharing and learning from each other's successes and positive outcomes.
Mission:
To create a collaborative, cross-sector community that identifies shared challenges, prioritizes common gaps, develops simplified information-sharing solutions, and learns from each other’s experiences and best practices.

Purpose:
The Sensitive Information Sharing Environment's (SISE) Cross-Sector Cyber Working Group fosters a secure, collaborative, and tactical environment for cybersecurity professionals across multiple sectors.
It fosters trust by encouraging companies to anonymously share successful strategies for detecting and preventing cyberattacks. By focusing on successes during workshops and meetings, the group shifts the narrative from fear and blame to collaboration and empowerment, inspiring confidence and encouraging broader adoption of proven practices across sectors. Unlike traditional approaches that emphasize failures and risks, this initiative highlights positive outcomes, showcasing effective cyber defenses.
Building trust is key to sharing sensitive information and improving sector-wide cybersecurity. As trust grows, members share actionable intelligence, standardize anonymized threat reporting, and collaborate effectively to protect critical infrastructure within this secure, vetted community.
By coordinating with existing platforms and trusted partnerships, the group fills gaps in proactive cyber strategies, streamlines threat reporting, and ensures swift responses to emerging threats. It will coordinate with existing organizations (e.g. ISACs, ISAOs, NGOs) and state fusion centers—that can contribute to specific initiatives or use cases.
